As I’ve pointed out before (several times), I still consider myself pretty new to World of Warcraft. However, ever since my brother and I made the hop to Outland for the content introduced in the first expansion, we’ve run into more and more people who are not very good at the game. It’s somewhat weird, really. However, they’re not new to the game, since they’ve had to make it all the way through 60-some levels to get to that point. My latest issues are coming from playing on one of my alts, a shaman.
Running through some of the lower level content again, I run into some interesting people. Lately I’ve noticed people who get help from higher level characters to do things that I consider well within my ability to do myself. (In fact, I just took out an elite and his henchman by myself after I watched 4 other people kill him. It didn’t take me any longer than it did them.) I’m not claiming that I’m some sort of awesome video game god or anything, it just seems like a little experience goes a long way.
This all leads me to understand the people who put new people down a little better. I don’t agree with them – I mean, I wouldn’t have gotten to the point that I am in game without the help of people who were kind enough to explain things to me. However, it gets pretty hard to tolerate some people when they can’t even manage to fight some same-level mobs without aggroing all of them at once. It’s not even dungeon stuff, just random quests to kill Murlocs or other garbage.
The point of this post? Try to learn some patience with people new to the game – especially since it’s only going to get worse come November and Wrath of the Lich King is released.
