Adventures in Respec

I believe I mentioned that I wasn’t having any fun in Battlegrounds in World of Warcraft.  Well, I’ve solved that problem (at least on my priest).  I was specced as a Shadow priest, and found myself unable to fall into a niche.  I wasn’t capable of dealing enough damage while still surviving, and I couldn’t heal enough to be useful to my teammates.

I fully accept that it may have just been my inability to play the class well, but I decided to respec as a Holy priest the other day.  Instantly, my entire experience in the BGs changed – it was as if a door had opened.  Now I feel like I contribute to the battle – especially in Alterac Valley – and I don’t feel as frustrated when I die.  In Arathi Basin I feel like I’m keeping specific people around me alive, and I haven’t had much experience in Warsong Gulch yet.  Maybe I was more suited to the Holy tree in the first place.  In any case, I think I’ll stick with Holy spec from now on.  I haven’t taken it out for a spin in PvE yet (I’m trying to get a PvP mount and hanging around at level 59), but I think that my brother (who plays a Retribution paladin) and I will be able to continue.

In other news, I also respecced my level 34 warlock to Affliction instead of Demonology.  I didn’t feel like I was gaining much from that tree, so I wanted to see some specific benefits.  I’m leaving my shaman on Enhancement at least for now, and I don’t play any of my alts enough to care yet (though I know I’ll leave my druid on Feral, just because).
